There’s an ESG backlash inside the executive ranks at top corporations
A reminder that change toward a more ESG-focused world is anything but guaranteed. Change management is hard. Change management across an entire economy is almost beyond the realm of reason. As such, those resisting the change (ie. those with m/billions on the line) put up the fire-proof strawman of "well just show me the proof that this is worth it". As ESG mandates are proactive in nature, the proof - with asked-for levels of detail - does not yet exist. This is all to say, the by laws, the initiatives, the regulatory chances, they're all standing up against monumental odds, and should not be expected to be adopted in their current states, if at all, without monumental effort.
